What Is a Rubber-Covered Roller?

A rubber-covered roller combines a rigid core, shaft, or tube with an elastomer working surface. The cover material, target hardness, face profile, and mounting details are selected together for the actual machine and process.

Rubber, polyurethane, and silicone are not interchangeable default materials. The correct choice depends on the load, contact material, heat, chemicals, required grip or release, and surface condition.

Covered Roller Types We Can Supply

We can supply the following covered roller types from your drawing. The compound, hardness, dimensions, working-face profile, and operating conditions are confirmed for each project.

General-purpose rubber-covered industrial roller

Rubber-covered rollers

For general industrial contact where the required grip, compression, process medium, and working environment are specified.

EPDM rubber roller for water, steam, and weathering exposure

EPDM rubber rollers

Specified for applications where weathering, ozone, water, steam, or the stated process environment must be considered.

Polyurethane covered roller for abrasion-resistant industrial contact

Polyurethane (PU) rollers

Selected for applications requiring abrasion resistance, load-bearing contact, or controlled driving and feeding performance.

Industrial nylon roller for hard, wear-resistant machine contact

Nylon rollers

Nylon rollers can be supplied for printing, dyeing, and other machine-contact applications requiring a hard, wear-resistant working surface. Nylon is an engineering-plastic working surface rather than an elastomer cover, so the grade, dimensions, shaft or core, surface finish, chemicals, temperature, and machine interface are confirmed separately for each project.

Silicone-covered roller for heat and release contact

Silicone-covered rollers

Supplied for heat, release, or non-stick contact requirements when compatible with the process medium.

Liquid silicone rubber covered rollers for specified process conditions

Liquid silicone rubber rollers

Liquid silicone rubber rollers can be supplied when the project requires a liquid-silicone cover. The material grade, hardness, temperature, chemicals, surface finish, and finished dimensions are confirmed from the drawing and operating conditions.

Common Industrial Applications

  • Conveying & Material Handling
  • Film Lamination & Pressing
  • Paper & Web Handling
  • Printing & Ink Transfer
  • Coating & Adhesive Application
  • Packaging & Converting

Related Expander and Spreader Rolls

Expander and spreader rolls can also be supplied for web spreading, wrinkle control, and material flattening. Send the required roll form, dimensions, shaft or mounting details, and operating conditions with the drawing.

FAQ

Which roller-cover material should I choose?

Choose from the actual process requirements, including load, abrasion, heat, chemicals, grip, release, and the material being handled. The compound and hardness are confirmed for the application.

Can you make a custom printing roller?

We can review a rubber-covered roller for a defined transfer, nip, support, or impression application from the drawing. State the printing process, contact medium, surface requirement, and machine interface. This page does not claim anilox or gravure engraving capability.

Can you manufacture from a drawing?

Yes. Send the approved drawing with the finished dimensions, cover requirement, core or shaft detail, working face, and critical tolerances. Large-volume OEM and replacement orders are supported.

Need a Custom Covered Roller?

Send your drawing for custom production. We will review the required working surface, core or shaft, mounting detail, and process conditions before quotation.
