Glass Processing

Glass Equipment Applications

We supply three different roller constructions for defined glass-processing positions. Nylon roller brushes clean the glass. Sponge rollers absorb water after washing. Rubber-covered rollers support and move glass in compatible cooling and transfer sections.

Glass Washing & Surface Cleaning

Soft Nylon Roller Brushes

Soft nylon roller brushes provide controlled cleaning contact in horizontal glass washing machines. A close-wound spiral brush on a stainless-steel shaft is one available construction. Nylon grade, filament diameter, density, brush pitch or fill pattern, finished OD, working length, shaft detail, and balance requirement are made to the approved drawing.

Glass type, coating, cleaning liquid, operating speed, and required surface quality must be reviewed. Do not assume that one nylon brush construction is suitable for every glass surface.

Glass Water Removal & Pre-Drying

PVA / PVF Sponge Rollers

PVA or PVF sponge rollers remove surface water after glass washing and rinsing, then reduce residual water before the final hot-air or air-knife section. Material, wet dimensions, core, shaft, and mounting details are made to the machine drawing. The construction is reviewed around the required water removal, line speed, contact pressure, liquid, and drainage arrangement.

Glass Cooling & Transfer Conveyors

Rubber-Covered Conveyor Rollers

Rubber-covered rollers can support, convey, and position glass with controlled contact. Cover material, hardness, finished dimensions, working-face profile, shaft, and mounting details are made to the approved drawing.

For cooling, unloading, and transfer positions, the glass temperature and process conditions must be compatible with the specified cover material. Rubber-covered rollers are not assumed suitable for furnace, quench, or other high-temperature sections.

Made for OEM, Replacement, and Volume Production

We manufacture nylon roller brushes, PVA / PVF sponge rollers, and rubber-covered rollers from an approved drawing or measured sample for OEM, replacement, and volume programs. Each construction is reviewed separately for its machine position.

  • Nylon grade, filament diameter, density, brush pitch or fill pattern, trim, working length, shaft, and balance requirement
  • Sponge material, wet dimensions, core, shaft, and drainage requirements
  • Cover material, hardness, finished dimensions, working-face profile, and required contact performance
  • Glass type, surface condition, and machine position
  • Glass temperature at the roller position and relevant process conditions
  • Shaft, journals, bearings, drive, mounting interface, and order quantity

If the sponge changes dimension between dry and wet conditions, provide the required operating dimensions. For rubber-covered rollers, provide the complete roller and shaft drawing, including the required working-face profile.

Important Application Review

For coated, Low-E, solar, optical, or other surface-sensitive glass, send the glass specification and machine position for review. Surface condition, brush filament, contact pressure, cleanliness, and incoming glass temperature must be confirmed before production.

High-temperature furnace, quench, and lehr positions may require ceramic, composite, graphite, metal, or other specialist roller constructions. Do not select a rubber-covered roller for these positions without confirmed operating data.

FAQ

What is the difference between a nylon roller brush, a sponge roller, and a rubber-covered roller?

A nylon roller brush performs the main washing contact. A sponge roller absorbs water after washing or rinsing. A rubber-covered roller supports and moves glass through a transfer position. They perform different jobs and are not substitutes.

How is a horizontal glass washing brush specified?

Provide the glass type, coating status, cleaning liquid, machine layout, rotation speed, required finished OD and working length, shaft detail, filament requirement, and drawing or sample. The cleaning result must be reviewed against the actual glass and process conditions.

How is the rubber-covered working face specified?

The cover material, hardness, finished dimensions, and working-face profile are confirmed from the glass type, load, machine layout, contact pattern, and operating temperature. Do not assume that one cover structure suits every conveyor position.

Can rubber-covered rollers be supplied for an existing conveyor shaft?

Yes, when the drawing or a measured sample confirms the finished dimensions, working-face profile, shaft layout, shaft ends, drive method, and operating conditions. The existing shaft must also be checked for wear or dimensional change before a replacement roller is specified.

Can rubber-covered rollers be used directly after a tempering furnace?

Not by default. The incoming glass temperature and the actual cooling or transfer location must be checked first. High-temperature positions may require a different roller material and construction.

When should nylon brush, sponge, or rubber-covered rollers be inspected?

Inspect when cleaning performance changes, water streaks, debris, damaged filaments, cuts, grooves, cover wear, slipping, or glass marks appear. Replacement timing depends on the process, maintenance practice, and required glass quality rather than a fixed calendar interval.
