What Is a Flexible Strip Brush?

A flexible strip brush replaces the rigid metal channel with a bendable polymer backing. It can follow curved edges, irregular openings, and shaped equipment where a straight metal-backed strip brush cannot fit easily. Flexible strips can be supplied in continuous coils or cut lengths, depending on the construction and profile.

Fused / extruded flexible strip brushes

  • Fused construction: Filaments are fused directly into a continuous extruded backing.
  • Materials: PP or nylon filament with flexible PP or nylon backing.
  • Trim range: 20–300 mm.
  • Continuous length: Extruded backing can be produced up to 250 m.
  • Working form: Metal-free, corrosion-resistant when chemically compatible, and able to follow curved or irregular contours.
  • Configuration: A fused construction can provide a dense, continuous filament line.

Tufted flexible-profile strip brushes

  • A flexible profile is formed first, then filament bundles are tufted into it.
  • Nylon or PP filament can be tufted into flexible rubber, TPE, or TPV profiles.
  • Custom tuft-hole spacing: Closer spacing increases density and can improve sealing contact.
  • Row count, fill density, and contact pattern can be adjusted.
  • Suitable for larger profiles and clip-on or shaped mounting sections.
  • Spray-suppression versions can use Clip-on, square, H, or F profiles, typically in 25 m rolls.

Rotary Heat Exchanger Seal Brushes

Flexible seal brushes fit around the heat-wheel perimeter and internal crossbars to reduce air bypass and help maintain heat-recovery performance.

  • PVC mounting base: Flexible carrier with optional mounting holes.
  • BCF yarn bristles: Primary flexible sealing contact.
  • Central plastic sealing fin: Supplements the bristle contact.

FAQ

What is the difference between a flexible strip brush and a metal channel strip brush?

A flexible strip brush uses a bendable polymer backing for curved or irregular paths. A metal channel strip brush uses a rigid metal carrier and is better suited to straight sections or formed metal profiles.

What is the difference between fused and tufted flexible strip brushes?

Fused strips bond the filament into a continuous extruded backing. Tufted strips secure individual filament bundles in a flexible profile, allowing the row count and tuft spacing to be adjusted.

Can flexible strip brushes be supplied in rolls?

Yes. Continuous coils and cut lengths are available for selected constructions. Coiling for packaging is different from a preformed spiral or helical brush, which requires inside diameter, outside diameter, pitch, rotation direction, and overall length.

Can a flexible strip brush follow any curve?
